Sungai Tinggi Beach Villa Canggu is beautifully designed and blends harmoniously with the natural environment. Coupled with the infectious smiles of the warm and friendly staff, and the amazing cuisine prepared by the dedicated in-house chef, it’s no wonder guests are captivated by Sungai Tinggi Beach Villa’s appeal and authenticity.

Sungai Tinggi Beach Villa Canggu is blessed with a sublime beachfront location near the rural village of Pererenan on Bali’s southwest coast. Here guests can take a leisurely sunset stroll along the quiet beach, surf on one of the island’s best breaks, or admire the fishermen in their brightly coloured jukungs (traditional fishing boats) hauling in the daily catch. In this traditional rural setting, where daily offerings at the village temple and meticulous tending of rice fields are the norms, guests are privy to a real slice of local Bali life.

However, should the bright city lights beckon, the upmarket restaurants, bars, and shops of cosmopolitan Seminyak are just a 30-minute drive away and your car and driver are on standby to whisk you there?

About the Location

Indonesia, Bali, Canggu

Canggu Beach is a coastal village of Bali located between Seminyak and Tanah Lot. People have migrated there to escape the congestion of Kuta and Seminyak. Its coastline comprises diverse black-sand beaches that are popular with surfers from around the world. Canggu is split into three major areas; Batu Bolong, Berawa, and Pererenan. The countryside of Canggu Beach features verdant rice fields and is a residential area of choice among many Bali expatriates where also plenty of beautiful villas have been established. As Bali’s expatriate neighborhood and surfing area, Canggu has among the island’s latest surf camps, bar and restaurant openings, and shops catering to an international clientele. Browse through our Canggu section to find out more.  Popular areas of Canggu include the beaches of Berawa that borders just north of Seminyak’s Batubelig beach, Batu Bolong, Batu Mejan also known as the ‘Echo Beach’, Pererenan, Seseh and Mengening located south of Tanah Lot.

Apart from surfing which is the most diffused activity around Canguu, you could visit the La Laguna Gypsy Market where you will find clothing, accessories, food, herbs & spices, fresh ground coffee and much more. If you are into culture do not miss Pura Tanah Lot Temple which is a famous religious site located on top of a rock formation where Balinese people worship the Bali Sea Gods.

You can also visit the main sights of Bali which are not far from this coastal area. Tanah Lot is the island's most iconic temple positioned on top of a huge rock, rooted in the sea. Uluwatu is among Bali's most important sea temples where from visitors can admire the most picturesque sunsets. Besakih Temples are the largest of all the Balinese temples with eighteen separate sanctuaries.

Bali is the most popular holiday destination in the Indonesian archipelago. Exotic temples and palaces embraced by lash nature, are some of its top attractions. After sunset, famous nightspots invite its many visitors to unforgettable nights. You will be amazed by the verdant nature and jungles. Bali also boasts world-class beaches and luxury resorts in hot spots such as Kuta, Seminyak, and Jimbaran where most of the accommodation is right on the beach. They also host some of Bali’s greatest surf spots. The eastern beach resorts are more tranquil and present the most beautiful sunsets. These include Sanur, Nusa Dua and the coast of Candidasa. In east Bali and northern region, you’ll find some world-class diving spots with calm bays. They're home to pristine corals and colorful marine life.

Indonesia is composed of many islands that display cultural and landscape diversity, located off the coast of mainland Southeast Asia in the Indian and Pacific oceans. With nearly 13,500 islands under its jurisdiction, Indonesia offers an adventure for everyone, from exploring ancient temples and hiking active volcanoes to diving in exotic, pristine waters. This country’s history and natural beauty will leave no visitor uncharmed. Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world after China, India and the USA, having the largest Muslim population in the world. It includes over 100 active volcanoes.

Paradise in Bali

We have just spent 10 days in this Villa. As a family of 8 we could not fault the rooms, the food and the exceptional service. This is must stay location in Bali, close enough to the real Bali and far away just enough to relax and enjoy your surroundings. A special mention to Made the manger and his team, they are always just in the background for you to relax but always available to assist in anyway.

Well worth the money.

Peaceful and tranquil spot

We stayed as guests of the wedding couple who had booked out this location. You don't realise how spacious and lush the place is until you're there. Very family-friendly, excellent villa manager who was able to cater for gluten free and vegetarian dietary requirements, recommendations on where to visit around the local area and helpful staff. Would highly recommend for a big family group (perfect for older parents who were visiting Bali for the first time) or as a wedding venue. Would love to stay here in future!!

Amazing location, excellent food..

Over the years we have been to quite a few villas so we have know what to expect. This villa was chosen by our host as it could accommodate a large group of 12 for a birthday celebration.

The location is without doubt the highlight, the beach is right there in front of you in all its glory, but you are far away enough that those walking along can't really see in. The sea air, the roar of the ocean is sublime.

Proximity to Echo Beach is also great, we made a few pilgrimages to Theraphy an excellent spa in Echo beach.

The layout is expansive, there are four main rooms around a central living area, each with its own bathroom. There is also a second villa quite some distance from the main villa, it has two bedrooms a shared bathroom and a small kitchen along with its own plunge pool. The walls there were rather thin so would be suitable for a family group or two single people, probably not private enough for two couples. The outlook from this villa however is absolutely stunning, never seen anything like it.

The main pool area is large and comfortable with plenty of grass area if you want to follow the sun on your deck chair.

Our room had an outdoor bath, but for some reason had a sunken bathtub over which there was a shower. It made getting in and out of the shower a bit of a slippery nightmare. We had a few issues with the air conditioning unit being very noisy and needing a repair ( by the time we left it was going to need to be repaired again) and drainage seemed to be an issue with the toilet never really flushing properly.

The staff were friendly and eager to please, but lacked some of the initiative and confidence that you would expect when paying these prices. We gave up on the cocktail making ability after the first night and agreed we would be better off making our own. The food was excellent, but again I was surprised that breakfast was not included in the price ( nor was laundry which was sent out).

The staff were not as present as we would have expected and often we woudl have to go an find them to get something, or ask them to restock mixers, ice etc, things that should be obvious when a large group is there.

It was rather annoying at the end of the night to be asked to provide a breakfast order, I would expect that a villa like this would keep constant breakfast supplies and perhaps offer order ahead or exceptional choices as ones that needed to be ordered the night before, who is about to go to bed and think about what breakfast they should have. A firm word and the basics were then kept in stock for our stay, but really we should not have had to do that.

The meals we did order were excellent. The food was delicious, although ( and perhaps I am being fussy, I did at times think there could have been more generous portions) on the first night some off our group did not get to try the fish at all.

Massage facilities were available on site, but these were not chargeable to the villa and had to be paid for at the time, again this is a departure from the practice we have had before. The prices for these services were also at the higher end of the spectrum and while good were not at the same standard being offered cheaper at Therapy at Echo Beach.

A car was available for 8 hours a day, but it was only later that we found out this 8 hours started at 9 and could not be specified by the guests without incurring additional charges. It was also a little surprising to be asked for petrol money on the first day when we provided a $1000US kitty to cover expenses.

Overall, the location is excellent, the rooms need a little more attention, and the staff while very well meaning need more direction and training. The food preparation was also excellent.

brilliant place to stay and relax - styled with warmth and heart

Brilliant place to stay for family and friends as well as a quiet retreat for tranquility and peace. In saying that you can also create a fun filled schedule with lots of laughter and locale trips. Great 3 days for myself and my partner. The staff are beautiful too and very attentive to your needs. The massage they booked for us was of a high standard too.
