Approximately 95 km from the Ngurah Rai Bali International Airport and built-in 2010 with a strong affinity towards Japanese architecture and love of orientalism, the lodge was initially built by a Dutch gentleman as a family holiday home using his admirable collection of old wood and that comprises of 3 cottages (cottages Sea House – now known as Amed, Shiro – now known as Jemeluk and DragonFly – now known as Tirta Gangga). He later went on to build another 3 cottages (High Tide – now known as Tulamben, Tower – now known as Karangasem, and Sea View – now known as Seraya) before turning it into a commercial lodge, which was known as Pondok Laut in 2013 until it changed ownership in December 2017.
In early February 2018, the lodge underwent a comprehensive upgrading project, while maintaining its quirky design, and reopens as Amed Lodge with 8 bedrooms and an intimate casual dining facility. Amed Lodge joins the Sudamala Resorts portfolio, a well-known Indonesian boutique resort operator with a presence in Bali (Sanur), Lombok (Senggigi) and Flores (Labuan Bajo and Little Seraya Island region).
The Jemeluk Cottage is designed as a spacious family room. Located on the first floor, the Jemeluk Cottage is a beachfront cottage with a spacious private terrace. It is approximately (43.5 sqm) and boasts premium bedding and a shower in the bathroom.
Bunutan is an ideal destination for couples as well as families, a perfect honeymoon spot, and also ideal for adrenaline seekers. Visit its lovely beaches and view the wonderful sunset while swimming in the crystal clear waters. Go to Amed Street for snookering with great views Amed Beach and Lipah beach are also ideal places for spending time in the sun. The Jemeluk Viewpoint is an ideal spot to see the sunset and an excellent place to relax after snorkeling in the area, probably the most iconic place with the view of the volcano over Jemelul Bay. Lahangan Sweet is a wonderful spot at the top of the mountains with great views but difficult to be reached. Visit the Pura Desa Adat Gulinten, a magnificent temple with wonderful architecture. Bunutan with its welcoming locals and the great views will excite you and your beloved ones!
