Archanes Heraklion is a large village located 16 km south of Heraklion Town, on a fertile and verdant hillside with running water. The village is truly unique with picturesque streets, beautiful neoclassical houses, flower-blossomed yards and balconies. Archanes are divided into upper and lower Archanes which are 4,5km away. Archanes is famed for its excellent wine production. In the wider region, there are some interesting archaeological findings that have revealed a Minoan construction including a small palace which is believed to have been the summer residence of the king of Knossos. Other excavations have brought to light the richest and most extended prehistoric (2500-1250 BC) graveyard of the Aegean on the hill of Fourni, which includes domed tombs carved on the rock and other findings such as stone plates with ivory, gold jewels, and statuettes.

The host was excellent and made sure we had everything we needed by checking in frequently. He also took our company to dinner at a nearby restaurant and gave us some of his own raki, a bottle of wine, and a basket of fruit. The home is exquisitely positioned atop a hill with panoramic views and stunning sunrises and sunsets. Everything is very clean and well-equipped for a large party. Throughout the week, there was further cleaning and new bed linens. Two outside dining places are available, one near the kitchen and the other in a wind-resistant cabana close to the BBQ. Additionally, there is a pool with lounge chairs and a sizable grassy area.
The center element is the living room with the kitchen. You can eat together without it being too little when the weather is terrible. There is almost no noise transfer from the living room to the sleeping area thanks to the heavy doors that may be used to seal the corridors. The exterior is extremely lovely. a sizable pool and a very shallow children's pool. The meadow beyond the house has adequate room for football games and other activities. Additionally, a group meal can be had out. Another highlight is the outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven. Every day, the pool is cleaned. Halfway through the stay, the personnel performed a complete cleaning.
