Kokkino Chorio Chania is located in the northwest part of Chania, in the Apokoronas region. Its architecture with stone-built houses gives it a very traditional character. At a very close distance, there are several sandy beaches with crystalline waters, while the area around the village is characterized by its many caves such as Karavospilios and Katalimata. The square in front of the central church of the village was the filming location of the 1964 awarded film “Zorba the Greek” starring Anthony Quinn. Close to the village “Cave of elephants” is full of stalactites and stalagmites and surely will be a unique experience. Worth visiting at the entrance of the village is a glass processing factory, open for visitors to witness this beautiful craft of blown glass making.
