Elafonisi is a small islet connected to the rest of Crete by a shallow reef. Elafonisi is found 82 km northwest of Chania town and can be reached by boat from Paleohora or by car from the village of Vathi, up until a point and then cross the reef. Elafonisi (Island of Deer) is a piece of heaven with its unique pink coral sand and its crystalline waters. This magical place has become a popular sight and can get very crowded during the high summer season. Only a couple of cantinas can be found on the beach and several seabeds with umbrellas. This is a must-see and one of the most photographed exotic beaches globally.
