Galatas village is found 6km west of Chania Town and is the birthplace of one of the most important Greek composers, Mikis Theodorakis. The village of Galatas is located in a fertile valley of citrus fruits and olive groves that create a unique scenery along with the scarlet red-tiled roofs of the little houses. In the center of the village, you will find the whitewashed church of St. Nicolas. The coastal settlement of Galatas includes the Kalamaki organized beach with its fine sand and shallow waters that is a pole of attraction for many tourists every year.
