Pyrgos is a traditional medieval village that is built amphitheatrically on a hill and offers amazing views in all directions. The living room opens up to the small kitchen and the first bedroom which has a spacious and impressive red stucco bathroom. Pyrgos is situated 8 km southeast of Fira, on top of a hill boasting incredible panoramic views of Santorini. Pyrgos used to be the capital of the island until the early 1800s. The village displays the traditional Cycladic architecture of the island and is built all around a Venetian castle. The Venetian castle is one of the five on the island of Santorini and dates back to the 13th century. It is amphitheatrically built on the hill and opens up to astounding views of both sides of the island. The village displays many churches. The most famous church of the island is the Monastery of Prophet Elias built at the highest spot of the homonymous mountain, located 4 km from Pyrgos village.

Everything about our trip was wonderful. The host was outstanding in every way. For us, she went above and above. For us, she set up a personal island trip. The suite had a beautiful outlook and was spotless. Enjoy the hot tub—it soothed my sore joints after a long day and was amazing. Oh, and I must not overlook the fantastic breakfast! The breakfast and dinner at the tiny restaurant were delicious.
