Gennadi in Rhodes, Dodecanese is a village located 60 km south of central Rhodes. It is a small settlement with tasteful taverns, small hotels, apartments and villas. Wander around the narrow streets and picturesque white-washed houses. The old olive press of the village will reveal techniques of the past. Do not omit to taste the fine Greek cuisine. If you are looking for somewhere to peaceful to relax & recharge your batteries,then this villa can offer this . From the minute you arrive, Andreas made the 5 of us feel like friends that had not seen each other in years: we arrived at the villa just after midnight and he was there waiting with such a warm welcome he had made us cold drinks {non alcoholic cocktails} Olga who we met later had made a small buffet sandwiches & pies: the chocolate cake was massive and very tasty kids loved it for the next 2 days. Absolutely brilliant welcome: Andreas is a very laid back nothing was a bother to him: we did have a few minor issues over the 10 nights we stayed however one phone call and he was onto it and got it fixed. He will sit down with you have a wee talk give you advice on the area: where to visit: where the supermarket is and good restaurants: of course you will find all that out for yourself as you travel about; A car is essential to being here at Filoxenia; it's not within walking distance to anywhere apart from the beach that is 10min walk from the front gate.
The villa :: stunning a electronic gated entrance into a well kept garden area: with parking for possible 3 cars: the villa as the brochure photos show is exceptional immaculately clean they have thought of just about everything people would need to have on holiday: the fridge has a beginners pack: butter,milk, juice various; beers; cold meat; eggs; cheese: bread crisps: chocolate; cakes: water; and some fruit: nuts: The rooms are spacious very clean; plenty room for hanging clothes: the only downside we can find is there is only one bathroom up stairs for three bedrooms, no on suite: this can make things a bit hectic in the morning and at night when everyone is getting ready to go out. Of course there is another bathroom downstairs next to another bedroom so it helps and was ok for us as there was only 5- 3 adults 2 children: however if all rooms in the villa are being used then I would imagine in would be a minor issue: outside the pool area is lovely: there are two patio areas front and back great to sit there to get some shade; {sorry 3 patios there is also a nice wee patio outside the downstairs bedroom } the pool is lovely great to jump into and have a swim: or for the kids to splash around. Plenty of sun loungers with towels: there is also a piercing cold shower. There is also a barbecue available ? we picked an evening to have a Bq when it started to blow a gale we gave up : so we just ate indoors the kitchen has everything all the mod cons all the utensils you need. All the the windows except one room I think had electric shutters great for keeping the rooms cool:you also have a great air conditioner in the villa very much needed. As I said earlier the villa is a fair distance from anywhere especially if you have kids; it's too far to walk: even mojitos about 1 mile away in that heat also if you are walking back at night it is a fairly busy road not very well lit; a car is essential to living here: it is also great for getting out and exploring places: you will need it to travel to the supermarket about 5miles away. The downside is unless you are a non drinker or you don't mind driving then traveling into other areas to eat {drink} then take the car: The so called taxi { and I mean taxi} service in Gennadi is appalling and he is not cheap ((We did get him on two occasions on the night )when he gets to you 2-3 hrs after you call him: if you have sat and had a drink or two waiting on him like we did the first night and he still didn't arrive then you can't drive ; luckily I managed to stop a private airport car returning to the airport outside the villa 2hrs after the our arranged restaurant booking at 8pm. PLEASE read my review on Sergio's, where we went that night. A wonderful restaurant and Poppi she is such a loving person honestly blown away with her hospitality it is second to none : most places we ate at the food was good can't really complain about any of the eateries good value for money; however if you are hungry the portions in Sergio,s are massive ;don't go to Gennadi village and not go here .. All in all we had a great 10 days holiday big thank you to our hosts Andreas / Olga and a special thanks to Poppi and her family. Read less
Arrivée deux heures en retard. Andreas nous attendait avec ses jus de fruit et ses en-cas délicieux. Frigo rempli ou presque, salles-de-bains hyper équipées (jusqu'aux cotons tiges!), piscine illuminée, maison impeccablement propre et en parfait état.
Au-delà de ça, Filoxenia c'est une rencontre. Olga et Andreas ont été constamment attentifs à notre bien-être, notre confort. Ils nous ont prodigué une foule de conseils judicieux (restos, plages, visites...).
Nous avions déjà rencontré des personnes agréables dans d'autres locations mais une telle hospitalité, un tel accueil, jamais!

We stayed at Filoxenia Villas in late September as a group of 8 friends. The villa was lovely, modern and clean. One of the nicest we have stayed in. Andreas met us on arrival with a welcome drink and to show us around - he couldn't do enough for us throughout our stay.
The pool is very large and there are 6 sunbeams - as there was 8 of us Andreas kindly borrowed 2 from the couple staying in the villa next door (which him and Olga also own).
The villa is a fair way from the supermarket and the local town - this suited our group well as we were focused on enjoying each others company. Having a car is advised although we didn't have a car and used local taxis to get around. Andreas gave us a list of local places to eat and the food was delicious - one evening the restaurant owner gave us a lift back to save us booking a taxi!
Overall, we had an amazing trip and highly recommend.

From the lovely genuine warm welcome we received when we arrived this whole experience was a delight.
The villa is in a lovely quiet part of Rhodes, but with plenty of delicious restaurants within a 5 minute drive. A stunning view over the sea from the two front bedrooms is a great start to any day.
Every room is beautifully presented, and everything you could possibly need for your stay is here already (toiletries, pool towels, hair dryers, etc..).
The gardens are lovely, and the pool large and clean (even if it does take your breath away when you first get in..!).
You get a constant breeze here, sometimes very windy, but that is nice that it takes the edge of the summer heat.
We rarely holiday in the same place more than once, but all in our family said they would love to return to Rhodes and this villa.
A car is essential, but it means you can explore easily what this wonderful island has to offer.
Olga and Andreas are wonderful hosts and make the booking and arrivals process seamless.
I would 100% recommend this villa if you are looking to holiday in the south of Rhodes.
Where to start? We stayed 2 nights (3 families) and as it turns we could not have made a better choice. The owners (Andreas & Olga) are genuinely nice people. The pro photos rarely reflect the reality but in this case they do!
We had shopped a bit on the way to Gennadiou (abt 45 mins from Rhodes central), but as it turns out we did not need half of the stuff that we bought! Andreas greeted us with freshly made cocktails with fresh mint from the garden and showed around the place. It has everything you can possibly think of (+more). Even BBQ and the charcoal, next to the herb garden! what a dream.
The villas are in a quiet location and Rhodes is not that big. Well, if you are planning on partying every night and getting home, this is probably not the best choice for you. But to relax and explore the island (with kids like we did) it is ideal. Nice beaches within 10 mins walking distance, windsurfing paradise "Prasonisi" just around the corner, Lindos a 10 min drive... Just rent a van and you are living a 5 star dream.
Words cannot express how nice the villa, the garden, the pool and most importantly the hosts are. We will definitely return and would highly recommend to anyone wishing to explore the island and have a classy holiday!
I've stayed in a Villa on Rhodes before, but this was AMAZING! We made a wrong turning on the way from the airport and it took a lot longer than anticipated to get to the villa. Andreas was waiting for us and we felt terrible as he must have been there for ages, but i've never met a more relaxed man, he wasn't bothered, sat us down with a cold drink and recommended a few restaurants to try. We immediately relaxed into our stay!
Definitely didn't want to come home!
Are you planning a trip to Rhodes with your friends or family? Filoxenia Villas is the place to be! 7 of my friends and I rented Villa Alex in June 2015 and were surprised by the outstanding hospitality and the fine quality of the Villa.
The owners, Olga and Andreas, greeted us with a "welcome-basket" and we were told that we could contact them any time during our stay in Rhodes. In other words: they were very helpful and friendly.
The kitchen was fully equipped, the rooms were nice and tidy and the view from the balconies and rooftop were absolutely perfect. The pool space was exceptional and if you preferred the beach, it took just about 2-3 minutes (walk) to get there.
