Latchi is a small quaint village that is part of the Polis municipality at the north-west end of the island of Cyprus, at the center of Chrysochous Bay, and on the edge of the Akamas peninsula nature reserve. It includes a small harbor. It is a quiet touristic resort and the inhabitants supplement their income with agriculture and fishing. Latchi serves as the fishing port of Polis and there you can find seafood taverns with fresh catch at very good prices.
Polis which is two kilometers away is served by the fishing port of Latchi. Polis is close to the beautiful Akamas peninsula, a nature reserve, a unique treasure on the island covering 230 square kilometers including verdant valleys, gorges and wide sandy bays. The wildlife diversity includes 168 varieties of birds, 20 different reptiles, 16 species of butterfly and 12 different mammals not to mention its very rich variety of fauna.
The Baths of Aphrodite close to Latchi are another pole of attraction along with the recently discovered ruins of the medieval Georgian Orthodox monastery of Gialia. The natural beauty of this place evokes peace and serenity to its visitors and is linked to the myth of Aphrodite. According to the myth, this is the place where Adonis saw Aphrodite for the first time when he stopped to drink water after hunting. He saw her bathing and fell in love with her. The natural grotto of the Baths of Aphrodite, and its botanical garden can be found past the fishing harbor of Latsi, and towards the tip of the Akamas Peninsula. The site is linked to the Aphrodite Cultural Route.
