The small town of Cobano is located in the southern part of the Nicoya Peninsula in the northern Puntarenas province of Costa Rica. It used to be a quaint and quiet village which transformed into a bustling place from one can visit the many gorgeous beaches on Costa Rica’s south Pacific coast. It is a crossroad and a hub since all roads leading to the beaches of Mal Pais, Playa Santa Teresa, Playa Tambor, and Montezuma, pass through Cobano. Thirty years ago Cobano was almost a dot on the map with just a few houses and cattle farms in a remote Costa Rican area. At that time roads didn't exist or were impassable with a car. When roads improved and transportation shifted from sea to land Cobano met with rapid development being today the administrative and commercial center of the Southern Peninsula de Nicoya Cobano which hosts all the amenities.
Santa Teresa in Puntarenas is one long stretch of sandy beaches, delightful dining, and endless shops. Its beaches are the perfect place to catch some waves and watch the sunset over the ocean.
