The Island has been enhanced with extensive infrastructure, including 11 beachfront villas and 2 harbors, a restaurant/bar with professional equipment, a games room and a spa/yoga pavilion. The accommodations have been designed and embellished with elements from Bali, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Antique hand-carved timbers, marble, and hardwood floors – the villas are simple, yet luxurious in their appointment. Each has been carefully situated with its own private beach looking out to spectacular ocean views.
Wax Cays’ buildings consist of accommodation villas, 3 staff buildings, the dining building including a bar and a commercial kitchen, an open-air pavilion, a games pavilion with billiard table, games tables, sitting areas with satellite TV and Internet access, laundry, harbor embankment, hand-cut native stone walkways and sea walls, docks with power and water and storage, Facilities include a marina, a power generating facility, water supply and reverse osmosis equipment.
The social heart of the Island is the centrally located bar and restaurant, offering a warm and inviting space, suitable for hosting a large gathering of family and friends, or a quiet meal for two. Surrounded by wooden decks with teak furniture, the location is a perfect place to entertain and enjoy the island’s exquisite sunsets.
The open-air pavilion is set away from the rest of the villas at the tip of the island overlooking the ocean. The building is constructed from large wooden timbers, featuring wooden floors and a thatched roof to take advantage of the wonderful ocean breezes. Here you have a place to meditate, practice yoga, or create your dream massage experience.
A blend of the exotic and comfortable, the villas on Way Cay are simply one of a kind. The structures have been built using hand-carved antique Vietnamese building frames. These were disassembled in Vietnam shipped to Wax Cay and re-assembled. The rustic elegance of these buildings adds to the mystique of being on the Cay.
The villas have been designed for total privacy. With a principal villa offering four bedrooms, one villa providing three bedrooms, and six one-bedroom villas, there is ample accommodation. The air-conditioned homes have been elegantly appointed with elements from the Far East, and offer open living areas, dining areas with kitchenettes, and en suite marble bathrooms. Carefully positioned, each villa overlooks its own private beach, and many feature a thatched gazebo perched over the ocean, with private sundecks.
