Orpheus Island is an ideal holiday escape. Located between Cairns and Townsville, the island is surrounded by ample 3212 acres of national park. It is fringed by coral reefs, making it a haven for snorkeling and diving. Orpheus has a warm tropical climate with an average temperature of 27°C year-round. The water temperature varies between 21°C in the winter and 29°C in the summer. During the wet season between November and April, there is a chance of rain at these times. During the cooler, drier months from May to October, when the south easterly winds blow, the weather is pleasantly warm with reduced humidity and plenty of sunshine.
