About the Location

Australia, New South Wales, Cottage Point

Cottage Point is a suburb of northern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park at the confluence of Cowan Creek and Coal and Candle Creek. It is the most unspoilt and the smallest suburb in Sydney, located in the waterfront bushland of Ku-Ring-Gai National Park, only 35 minutes from the center of Sydney; being a relief from the hustle of the urban part of the city. The eateries here have developed an excellent reputation and are visited by passerby travelers.

Cottage Point was only reached by boat until 1934 when a bridle track to Akuna Bay was formed. One of Sydney’s most scenic and unspoilt suburbs, Cottage Point is listed as a heritage conservation area supporting a wide variety of native flora and fauna.

A short walk will bring you at the Cottage Point Kiosk which is a beautiful choice for a light meal or pick up some supplies. They also provide hire of motorboats and kayaks. At night you have an a-la-carte dining option at the Cottage Point Restaurant.

Opposite Cowan Waters, you will see Looking Glass Bay and to the right is Looking Glass Rock which glows brightly with the dawn sun in summer. It is said that the local Aborigines believed that if the rock ever became submerged then it would be a sign that the Europeans would depart. It is still present to this day.

New South Wales is Australia’s most populous estate, from magical Sydney and Bohemian Byron Bay to the beautiful snowfields, you will surely be amazed by the beauty of this region. Visit Syndey with its glittering harbor, Opera House, and the Harbour Bridge. Visit the Byron Bay Newcastle and the Blue Mountains while you will love the historic outback town of Broken Hill and Tamworth. Visit the beaches of Bondi, Manly, Coogee all well known for their gorgeous sand. Here is also the heartland of Australian cricket, rugby and tennis so don’t forget to visit the Sydney Cricket Ground and modern Sydney Olympic Park. Don’t forget to spot dolphins in Port Stephens, whales in Coffs Harbour, and kangaroos at Pebbly Beach on the South Coast.

Australia as a country comprises the mainland of the Australian continent, Tasmania, and numerous smaller islands. It is the largest country in Oceania and the world's sixth-largest country by total area. The neighboring countries are Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and East Timor to the north, New Zealand to the south-east and the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu to the north-east. Its population of 25 million is mostly concentrated in urban centers on the eastern part. Australia's capital is Canberra, and its largest city is Sydney.
